Are you a dedicated solicitor with a passion for civil and children’s legal assistance?
Join our team in a dynamic and meaningful role which gives you the opportunity to combine expert legal knowledge with decision-making and guidance to support legal aid applications across civil and children’s legal assistance. You will play a vital role in ensuring fair and accurate decisions on applications, providing advice to colleagues and the profession, and contributing to the ongoing development of our systems and guidance.
Essential Criteria
- Significant civil work experience
- In-depth knowledge of civil justice system and legal aid legislation
- Highly developed communication skills
- Strong client/customer awareness
- Organised with the ability to work well under pressure whilst dealing with urgent and complex casework
- Ability to work independently, seeking assistance and guidance from peers and managers appropriately
- Knowledge of IT in a day-to-day legal context including use of email, Microsoft 365, and time and case recording
- Excellent legal research skills
- Self-motivated with strong planning and organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of children’s legal assistance work
- Knowledge of the children’s justice system
- Experience of developing and providing training
- Robust IT skills
- Good awareness/understanding of equalities and diversity issues.
