Are you a dedicated solicitor with a passion for civil and children’s legal assistance?

Join our team in a dynamic and meaningful role which gives you the opportunity to combine expert legal knowledge with decision-making and guidance to support legal aid applications across civil and children’s legal assistance. You will play a vital role in ensuring fair and accurate decisions on applications, providing advice to colleagues and the profession, and contributing to the ongoing development of our systems and guidance.

Essential Criteria

  • Significant civil work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of civil justice system and legal aid legislation
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Strong client/customer awareness
  • Organised with the ability to work well under pressure whilst dealing with urgent and complex casework
  • Ability to work independently, seeking assistance and guidance from peers and managers appropriately
  • Knowledge of IT in a day-to-day legal context including use of email, Microsoft 365, and time and case recording
  • Excellent legal research skills
  • Self-motivated with strong planning and organisational skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of children’s legal assistance work
  • Knowledge of the children’s justice system
  • Experience of developing and providing training
  • Robust IT skills
  • Good awareness/understanding of equalities and diversity issues.
