Support the People & OD team with case management as an integral member of the team with responsibility for ensuring SLAB’s workforce are supported, informed and empowered to make decisions through an advisory and supportive service. Each day will likely be different so an in-depth understanding of general people related processes and policies will be required to succeed.

The role involves advising and supporting staff and managers on all employee relations issues, including performance management, health and wellbeing, sickness and absence, conflict resolution, equality and diversity, dignity at work, investigations, and disciplinary and grievance procedures.

Essential criteria

  • A good level of case management experience within an HR environment.
  • A sound understanding of employment law and HR best practice.
  • A sound understanding of equality and diversity best practice.
  • Good interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including excellent drafting skills along with close attention to detail, and the ability to communicate at all different levels throughout the organisation.
  • Proven ability to analyse information, produce findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to influence with good facilitation skills, being persistent but able to maintain a sensitive and diplomatic approach.
  • Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload to manage expectations and deadlines.
  • Strong achievement orientation with adaptability to manage changing requirements.
  • Integrity and maintains confidentiality.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge and experience of working within a public sector environment.
  • Experience working with Trade Unions.
