New Legal Aid Online: Guidance for final switch

The new process will be available through the SLAB website, via the LAOL button (at the top of every page). You should remove any old bookmarks or favourites, as these will no longer work after the new process is implemented, and replace them with the following URL:

Before implementation, you should check your personal e-mail address is correct by clicking on the link in the top right of the LAOL notifications page. The changes will allow you to change your password without the need to contact the helpdesk for these requests and reduce the delays that can cause you.

What will I need to do to login for the first time?

To start using the new link, visit the new portal page and click “Forgotten password?”. Your current password will not work.

Clicking on “Forgotten password?” will take you to a page where you enter and re-enter your personal email, linked to your username, and then enter the captcha code and click send.

An email will be sent containing a link to reset your password. Please check your SPAM folder if this does not appear within a few minutes.

The link within the email will only be valid once and for 1 hour. After this time you may see a message to say the page has expired and you will need to request a new one via the same “Forgotten password?” option.

If you click the link more than once you will receive an e-mail for every time you click. Only the latest e-mail’s link will be valid.

Please make sure the password contains all of the criteria needed for your new password.

Click on update and your new password will be set. You can then login to legal aid online as normal. This process will only need to be done once, until such time you want to edit your password or your email address for your login.

How do I update my email address?

You will continue to have the ability to update your personal email address via LAOL. If you are locked out of your login and you have forgotten the email address you linked to your account then please contact the helpdesk who will be able to assist.
