VACANCIES: Head of Office (CLAO Aberdeen) and Civil Casework Solicitor (CLAO Inverness)

We currently have two vacancies in the Civil Legal Assistance Office (CLAO):

The Civil Legal Assistance Office is looking for a solicitor to head our Aberdeen office who will manage a small team of solicitors as well as carry a caseload.

Concentrating on the rights of people who are disadvantaged our Aberdeen office represents people in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. We work closely with other advice providers and support agencies as part of our work to triage and refer some cases to other solicitors, advisors or support organisations.

You and your team will carry a demanding caseload comprised mainly of Children’s cases in the courts and Children’s hearings and publicly funded housing law (repossession; homelessness; unlawful eviction; disrepair).

  • Civil casework solicitor (CLAO Inverness)

The Civil Legal Assistance Office is looking for a talented social welfare solicitor to join our established specialist team in Inverness.

We are the largest group of legal aid practitioners in the Highlands. Concentrating on the rights of people who are disadvantaged we represent clients in Highland, Moray, Western Isles, Orkney and Shetlands.

With a full, post-qualified and unrestricted practising certificate from the Law Society of Scotland and a full, clean driving licence, you will have solid experience in Housing Law; and excellent technical skills with particular expertise in publicly funded work. You should be highly organised with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to the delivery of social welfare law. Additional experience in child protection and mental health law would be highly advantageous.
