Special urgency: procedure for exemption from court fees

Your client is exempt from court fees if:

  • They are receiving civil legal aid
  • You are undertaking work for them in a matter of special urgency under regulation 18 of the Civil Legal Aid (Scotland) Regulations 2002

In both cases, you should complete a certificate of exemption to prevent those fees having to be reimbursed by the sheriff clerk.
