Civil legal aid applications by person resident outwith the UK

There are special formalities for completion of an application if your client is a resident outwith the UK and is not to be in the UK when their application is being considered.  The application must be:

  • In English or in French
  • Sworn on oath before an appropriate official
  • Accompanied by a written statement itemising your client’s disposable income and disposable capital.

We may, however, waive these requirements to avoid serious difficulty, inconvenience or delay.
