Who to contact at the Board

  • If you are a legal profession or looking to contact a specific person at the Board, you should read our staff directory, which includes email and direct telephone numbers

  • If you have applied for legal aid, or you have received a letter from the Board that you want to talk to someone about, it is best if you write or phone us giving us your legal aid reference number. This way we can make sure you are put through to the person who is dealing with your case.

  • If your enquiry relates to an application, but you do not have a reference number, or do not know what it is, ask for our Civil or Criminal Applications Department, depending on the type of case.

  • If you have a problem about money you have been told you must pay to the Board, you should contact our Treasury Department.

  • If you have a complaint about the way you have been treated, please write to the Director of the department concerned, or ask us for a copy of our complaints leaflet.

  • If you are not sure who to contact, or if you want to make a general enquiry, please contact our Communications office who will try to help you or, if they cannot, to pass you on to the appropriate department.

  • We will be pleased to answer any questions we can about legal aid in Scotland. Please note, though, that we cannot answer questions about individual applications or accounts or about specific aspects of law, other than the law relating to legal aid in Scotland.

  • To allow us to continue to improve our web site, we would also appreciate your comments on the content of our site. Send your comments to general@slab.org.uk.
